One of the tourist hotspots in the north of the Île de Ré is undoubtedly the Whale Lighthouse of Saint Clément des Baleines, located about fifteen minutes by bike from the Jardin des Portes via the cycle paths. You can go to the very top of the Lighthouse to discover the spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding villages. A park, numerous restaurants and several souvenir shops and local products including the famous ""La Martinière"" glacier surround the famous monument. Every summer, for 5 days, the Jazz au Phare festival offers a very popular program (concerts, activities, parades).
